THE BLOG
Just a little 'blog' on this weeks show and events.

A 'WEE BLEATHER' with the Liam Stewart Trio
When 'Tartan and Thistles' met 'The Ceilidh Kidd'

Each week I will write a little about the show, little facts or favourite tracks/favourite artists of mine. Also will let you know where we have been been dancing or Accordion Clubs etc.
Theme is ..........
On Tuesday it was the Dumfries Accordion and Fiddle Club in our home town of Dumfries. The guest band for the evening was The Liam Stewart Trio.
There will be a new feature on Tartan and Thistles, starting this week called 'A WEE BLEATHER'. No, before you say, I am not the Wee Bleather! haha.
I will do wee interviews with bands and audience members while on our travels around the different clubs and dances.
This week started with Liam, Leonard and Gordon. As I started the informal interview I realised that Gordon 'Smithy' Smith was the only one with a nickname that I knew off..... I did ask the question of nicknames but that was quickly avoided when I was told that we could not 'air' their nick names. I did of course ask if it should be Stewarty and Brownie taken from the fact Gordon was called Smithy!! Leonards reply to that was more like shortcake, haha.
I have popped the interview on here for you to listen again
'TIME'
I must thank 'The Ceildh Kidd' for the lovely gift of the Rode Interview equipment. This was my 1st interview with my wee pressie and I was well impressed how well it worked in a busy environment.
Who will be the next victim???
My favourite track from this weeks show had to be Home Bru with Coopers Reels from the Album 'No Afore Time'. Very bouncy and great foot tapping stuff.
When I first went looking for tracks for the theme this week, I did think I would need to go down the route of looking for tracks with other meanings and components of time. I was amazed how many tracks and albums had the word 'Time' in them. We probably could have another show named 'Time, take II'!
What I did learn while googling wee snippets of information on dances and artists this week, that in Posties Jig, the centre piece of the dance with all the arches was to symbolise the tying of a parcel. (sometimes this parcel would be full of knots with the way its danced, I'm not sure it would survive going through the mail system!)
Hope you all have a good week. As always, thank you for listening to the show - have a good week and Take Care!
Susan x
